Here is the insider scoop on the five best trails for in and around Denver for hiking and sightseeing.

mt bierstadtDenver used to be known as the hub for trade in travel in the wild west but has grown into a fully developed metropolis city with its very own skyscrapers and professional sports teams. Although much has changed you can still slip away into the wilderness to experience the true Colorado with relative ease. However, the most popular hike near the Denver area is actually a greenway that travels follows the South Platte River in the heart of Denver, the South Platte River Greenway trail. Another popular option inside the city is the Sloan Lake Loop offering stunning views of the Rocky Mountains and a little bit of exercise as the loop is about almost three mile in length. For those trying to avoid the city a get some fresh air, Boulder, Colorado has you covered. The Mount Sanitas Trail and Red Rocks Trail will take you out of the city and into the wild. Sanitas is known for its excellent wild flower blooms during the spring time while Red Rocks displays some truly awesome geology.

Evans Rd is the highest road in North America and offers a chance to meet some of the local mountain goats that linger around the peak as well as soak in some of the best views in Colorado.
