October Events

Mountaintop Zipline Colorado

October is the perfect time to visit the mountains. The air is a bit cooler, the leaves are changing colors, and there are a variety of festivals throughout the month to keep everyone occupied. We all know ski season is approaching, but there is still plenty of fun to be had before the snow starts to fall. There are most likely deals on lodging, retail, and restaurants so that a weekend trip won’t break the budget. IMG_5967Below is a list of events that will keep you entertained until the lifts start to turn:

  • October 10th-12th: The Great American Beer Festival comes to Denver. Boasting the largest collection of U.S. beer ever served in a public tasting event, the GABF is a yearly tradition in Colorado. Some of the local breweries give tours of their facilities. Mountain Top Ziplining in Idaho Springs has teamed up with the local favorite, Tommyknocker’s Brewery to offer a “Zip and Sip” package that includes a half day zipline trip, followed by a brewery tour with 2 free samples.
  • October 12th: The North Face Speaker Series will have Conrad Anker as their special guest. Anker is an accomplished alpine climber who has summited many of the world’s hardest peaks including Mount Everest and India’s Mount Meru.
  • October 18th-19th: Keystone plays hosts to the annual international wine and food tasting extravaganza, Wine in the Pines. There is a silent auction, live entertainment, and nearly 500 wines along with some of Keystone’s finest gourmet cuisine and desserts prepared by their world class chefs.
  • October ???: Arapahoe Basin and Loveland ski resorts battle it out to try and have the earliest opening day of the season. Both resorts have begun making snow hoping to receive the title of the first ski resort to open in Colorado. Keystone and Copper Mountain both plan to open with a bang on November 1st, followed shortly by Breckenridge on November 8th.

Between the festivals and events, there is something for everyone throughout the month. Add in cooler weather, great deals on lodging, and the vibrant colors of the season, and you can see why October is a great time to come see us and discover why fall is an amazing time in the mountains.
