The Buena Vista outpost is AVA Rafting & Zipline‘s original adventure location from 20 years ago. It is home to a wide range of activities and packages, so there is an adventure for everyone. Just over an hour from Breckenridge and a couple hours from Denver, this area is just a beautiful drive through the Rocky Mountains. Here’s a look at all the activities AVA’s Buena Vista outpost has to offer.
Whitewater Rafting in Buena Vista
The activity AVA is most known for is definitely rafting, and there are plenty of options for rafting in Buena Vista. Trips from Buena Vista are ran on the Arkansas River. There are sections with rapids ranging from the family friendly Class III’s in Brown’s Canyon, to the challenging and adventurous Class V’s on Pine Creek. With half-day, full-day and even overnight packages there are rafting packages to fit the rafting trip expectations of all different ages and ability levels.
Ziplining in Buena Vista
The Mountaintop Zipline is equipped with 7 lines that allow you to zip over the 44-acre Arkansas River Valley. Packed full of fun features such as a race zip and jungle bridge, this zipline is so much more than other ziplines you may have previously experienced. The platforms are built into natural features of the mountain top and surrounding trees giving breath taking views of the Collegiate Peaks. With the minimum age to zip being 6, the entire family can get in on the action.
Buena Vista Via Ferrata
Want to take a step up from the Mountaintop Zipline in intensity? The Granite Via Ferrata is sure to thrill. While it still incorporates two of the ziplines, the via ferrate is the newest, most anticipated feature of the Buena Vista outpost. Participants will traverse a granite cliff side, use iron rungs to scale up the mountain side, rappel, and experience a 60-foot free-fall. During this wild experience, guests will also be able to take in 14,000 snowcapped peaks in the distance making this activity scenic, thrilling and memorable.
Other Activities
In addition to the three main activities, the Buena Vista also has horseback riding, rock climbing, camping and fly fishing to offer.
Horseback Riding
Horseback riding in the Buena Vista area is run out of the Mt. Princeton stables. Enjoy a 2-hour trail ride or step up taking in the Colorado beauty with a sunset or waterfall ride.
Rock Climbing
Enjoy the scenery as the guides assist you in rock climbing teaching participants about setting anchors, rappelling and belaying
Camping
If you’d like to get the full outdoor experience while participating in other activities, the Buena Vista outpost has both cabins all containing two sets of bunk beds and a bathroom (hot showers) and campsites for tent camping to really give the outdoor experience
Fly Fishing
If you’re looking to try a new activity, Ark Anglers provides everything you need to try out fly fishing just a short 30-minute drive up the road from the Buena Vista outpost.
The best part about all the activities is they can be bundled together! Experience an action-packed day in the Arkansas River Valley with AVA Rafting & Zipline.
