There are zips, there are lines, and then there are ziplines. An introduction to the wonderful world of ziplines and your new life as a zipline enthusiast.

Zipline Colorado

All over the world, at this very moment, there is an adventurous group of people that, unbeknownst to them, are about to take a journey that changes their life. This journey of course is ziplining.

Whether you have been dreaming of going on a high-flying adventure your whole life or you and your friends made some spontaneous plans to have an incredibly fun weekend, ziplining is an activity that everyone should find time to cross off their bucket list.

The state of Colorado is proudly home to many wonderful ziplines that can give unmatched views and an unrivaled good time! But before you embark on this exciting adventure, there are a few things you should know! We’re going to send some tips down the line to give you the best experience possible!

1.) Not All Ziplines Are Created Equal

When you decide to go ziplining do some research. Do not just find the closest to you and go. Instead, look for a few other pieces of information.

  • First, location. A zipline near you may be fun, but a little further of a drive may put you on a zipline that is far superior in views. Some ziplines are plank to plank trips that say in the bottom of a valley, others like AVA’s Ziplines start high up high on a mountain or cliffside and you work your way back to the ground.
  • Second, look for features. The basic zipline ride is always fun, but some courses will have unique features that others don’t. AVA’s zip courses features a race zip, surf sip, and an optional 50-foot freefall at the end! Always remember that the further drive is often worth it!

2.) Check the Weather & Dress Appropriately

Colorado’s weather can be quite crazy. It can be a nice warm day in Denver while 45 minutes on the other side of the mountains in Idaho Springs, snow may be coming down. Most zipline tours are a couple of hours long and you don’t want to be uncomfortable during that time.

Be sure to check how the weather is going to be at the location and were clothes for those conditions. Many ziplines are at high altitudes and the weather can change quickly. Having an extra layer of warmth and a rain jacket is always a good idea!

3.) Bring Water & Snacks

The average zipline tour is going to be about 2.5 hours and most likely at an altitude you are not fully adjusted to. Hydrating is the best way to prevent altitude sickness and ensure you feel great for the whole trip. Bringing some snacks is also a good idea to help keep your energy levels up!

4.) Be Aware, Once You Start the Tour, You Must Finish the Tour

For most people this is not a problem, but there is no stopping the trip once you start. While ziplining isn’t too physically demanding, there is physical effort and the day can be a bit longer and tiring than expected. As with any outdoor activity, be sure to know what you’re getting yourself into before you go!

5.) Find the Right Group to Go With

Ziplining is an amazingly fun experience and the people you are with will either brighten or dampen that experience. Leave the whiners and complainers at home and grab you fun adventure-loving friends or family members to make this experience as wonderful as it
