When getting ready for your ultimate Colorado summertime vacation, the number of trip options and places to visit seems to be a nearly never-ending list. For those staying in the Denver area, Idaho Springs, CO should be at the top of the list for places to visit during the summer months. Idaho Springs is quaint little town just down the I-70 corridor, about 45 minutes outside of downtown, and is known for its various world-class activities just outside of Denver. Having to decide between ziplining and mountain biking can be a hard decision to make but in Idaho Springs you can tackle both activities in one day.
Idaho Springs is typically known for its rich mining history, excellent whitewater and ice cold Tommyknocker’s beverages. It is also very central to some of the best biking trails in the state. Mt Evans is a short thirty minute drive from Idaho Springs and offers the highest paved road in North America, perfect for the avid cyclist looking to really push their limits. For those looking to get out on some trails and test their mountain bike, try your skills on the Flat Iron Mountains near Boulder for anywhere between beginner to advanced level trails. If you do not have your own bike or were unable to pack it up for this trip, I would recommend checking out Winter Park Resort for some world-class downhill and new gravity.
