Things to do in Idaho Springs

If you’re planning a mountaintop zipline tour, you may want to fill the rest of your day with more Idaho Springs activities.  Ziplining takes about 2 hours, and with times throughout the day, you’ll have plenty of time to grab a bite and explore the town and surrounding mountains.

Adventurous:

Clear Creek RaftingWhitewater Rafting – Take on the rugged and technical rapids of Clear Creek with options from family friendly to high-octane advanced whitewater!  Clear Creek Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced trips can be packaged with zipline tours for additional savings and convenience.

ATV Tours – Choose your own adventure with tours to scenic overlooks, historic ghost towns, steep trails above the tree line and more!  ATV Tours are available in 2 hour tours and ½ day tours and can accommodate all experience levels from first timers to veteran four wheelers.

 

Historic:

Mine tours – Take a guided mine tour and feel like you’ve traveled back in time.  The Phoenix Gold Mine is still active and offers the opportunity to pan for gold.  The Argo Gold Mine operated at the end of the 19th century, and tours include Argo Tunnel, which runs to Central City over 4 miles away.

Downtown Idaho Springs and Georgetown – Downtown Idaho Springs and downtown Georgetown are each easy to explore on foot and offer the quaint feeling of historic towns.  Visit local museums and historic buildings or just enjoy the shops and restaurants.

 

Scenic:

Train rides – The Georgetown Loop Railroad offers train rides that provide stunning scenery and an array of local history.  The perfect activity for families with children or anyone seeking a low-key way to learn about the area.  Mine tours of the Lebanon Silver Mine can be added to the tour, as well.

Scenic Drives – After a thrilling zipline adventure, continue up Chicago Creek Road (Highway 103) to Mt. Evans, one of Colorado’s 14,000’ peaks. You’ll be blown away by stunning vistas along the winding switchbacks.  Further west, out of Georgetown, drive to Guanella Pass on one of Colorado’s scenic byways with views of Mt. Bierstadt as you climb above timberline.
