6 Awesome Airbnb’s in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains

Colorado Treehouse Airbnb

Looking to enjoy a vacation in the beautiful state of Colorado?  The mountains have a lot to offer from winter activities such as skiing, snowboarding, and sleigh rides to summer excursions like scenic hiking, mountain biking, and fly fishing.  When searching for lodging for your stay, Airbnb has quickly become one of the most popular options over the last couple years.  You’ll have the option of crashing in a bedroom at someone’s place, or having a home to yourself.  Unique accommodations cover the entirety of Airbnb’s website, highlighting treehouses, mountain cabins, and even castles for rent in more than 65,000 cities and 191 countries.  Here are some of the best Airbnb’s in Colorado.

1. Yurt & Yedis Hideaway at Mt. Sherman | Fairplay

One of the many yurts available to rent throughout Colorado is this hike-in yurt hideaway in the mountains of Park County.  This specific yurt is located near tree line at 11,800 feet with expanding Colorado wilderness surrounding the area.  Be prepared for your car to not make it all the way to the yurt, and pack all your essentials in your bag to hike in.  For a true Colorado experience, stay here.

2. Rocky Mountain Treehouse | Carbondale, Colorado

Built in 1971, this tree house is a great getaway into the Rocky Mountains.  Equipped with a wood burning stove and hot tub, you’ll be comfortable year round at this picturesque home.  It sleeps up to six guests and sits at 25 feet above the ground, anchored into the surrounding strong spruce trees.

3. Creekside Cabin in Blue River | Breckenridge

Though it’s much more simple than the other features on this post, who wouldn’t want to stay in a beautiful mountain cabin?  Perfect for a family or small group, this cabin is located just outside of Breckenridge, Colorado in the community of Blue River.  Head south from town on Highway 9 and immerse yourself in the quiet, beautiful, wooded mountains just minutes outside of Breckenridge.  The wood burning fireplace in this cozy cabin will keep you smiling while you watch the snow fall outside, and the gas grill will cook up a delicious dinner after a day of adventure in the mountains.

4. Little Red Treehouse | Lyons

Located just north of Boulder in the foothills of Colorado, this unique stay will be the perfect getaway for some quiet time outside of town.  There’s a deck overlooking the foothills, as well as beautifully crafted wood finishes on the inside.  The Little Red Treehouse will cost you a bit more money than other lodging options, but if you do decide to book this Airbnb, we’re not sure you’ll ever want to leave.

5. Moose Haven Cabin | Walden

Head to the remote area of Mt. Zirkel Wilderness in norther Colorado for a tranquil stay in the mountains.  This off-grid cabin doesn’t have running water and includes very minimal electricity, but has everything you need to stay a few days.  An outhouse is located just 20 feet from the front door, and though many feel this is an inconvenience, you’ll have a warm home to cozy up in after a day of adventure in Routt National Forest.

6. Calm Tipi Mountain Getaway | Cimarron

Camp in style in this 18 foot tipi!  Located between Montrose and Gunnison, Colorado, it’s just feet away from national forest and Colorado wildlife.  The tipi includes lighting and a wood burning stove for comfort during all seasons in the mountains, as well as a fire pit, hammock, and gas grill outside.  A one night stay here will only cost you $55… split that between the four guests this tipi sleeps and you’re good to go for a weekend getaway!

What better way to enjoy all that Colorado has to offer than staying in a unique lodge during your vacation?  If you’re looking for some fun outdoor activities, Colorado Zipline offers aerial adventures in Idaho Springs and Buena Vista as well as plenty of other excursions, making for a action-packed afternoon for you and your crew.
