Springtime in Colorado boasts warm sunny days, but also chilly evenings.   You may get a snow storm one day and 65 degrees the next, but that’s part of the joy of living in the Rocky Mountains.  If you’re headed to the state for your spring break week or just looking for an afternoon getaway into the mountains, head to AVA’s Idaho Springs outpost – just 30 minutes west of Denver!  You’ll get to skip the lift lines at ski resorts and enjoy an adventure packed day along the cliffside above the historic mountain town.  Less crowds means more zip time, and your family will love you for this unique adventure!

Cliffside Zipline

On this 6-line course, you will meet at our Idaho Springs outpost to gear up, meet your guide, and have a crash course on the do’s and don’ts of the activity.  The unique part of AVA’s Cliffside Zipline tour is that it’s built into the natural surrounding areas so guests aren’t just zipping from tower to tower.  We’ve also incorporated many different thrilling elements throughout the course, including a Surf Zip, suspended Bridge of Doom, a Jungle Bridge, and a 50-foot cliffside Free Fall.

Colorado Via Ferrata

Looking to step it up a notch?  AVA’s Colorado Via Ferrata is a combination of ladders, rungs, carved steps, and bridges to help moving across and up a cliff face. This adventure is an assisted guided tour where guests clip into cables that run alongside of the cliff.

What to Bring

While spring in Colorado does yield some pretty beautiful days, be sure to prepare for all types of weather.  Bring long pants, a warm jacket, thin gloves and a thin hat with you in case of a colder day… you can always leave things in your car while on tour.  We also ask that you wear closed-toe shoes that will stay securely on your feet with good sturdy soles, pants or shorts that are knee length, and of course a taste for adventure!

Idaho Springs, Colorado

The historic mining town of Idaho Springs is only 30 minutes from downtown Denver, so it is a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.  Either before or after ziplining, be sure to stop by the Smokin’ Yards for some amazing BBQ or head to Beau Jo’s for a delicious pizza.  When it comes to beer, the Tommyknocker Brewery has been in the business of crafting brews for more than 20 years.  With great classics like the Drift Blonde Ale, Maple Nut Brown and awesome seasonal brews like their Tundrabeary Fruit Ale or Cocoa Porter Mountain Ale, you can’t go wrong.
